Hello and welcome to my website. My name is Chris Blackwell and I am a full time web developer and the CEO of Xray Sierra Inc. I currently live in the city of Sudbury, which is about 3 hours north of Toronto in Ontario, Canada.
First Introductions to the Internet
I was first introduced to the Internet with a small dial-up connection in elementary school in 1996. Right away I found the Internet very fascinating and I knew that it was going to be the start of something fantastic. Less then a year later I started learning HTML and how to build webpages. Only a couple of years later, when I was in high school, I started doing website design for small businesses.
I never imagined that the Internet would evolve like it has over the last decade. I have seen new web technologies come and go, companies become super giants then collapse, and people becoming famous only to be forgotten a few weeks later. I am really happy to be doing what I do, and I believe the Internet to be one of the best tools mankind has ever created. I still feel we have a long way to go and that we have only scratched the surface of what the Internet can truly offer.
Work Experience
Early in my web design career I did mostly free lancing work for small businesses, designing and programming their websites in my spare time. In late 2005 I was hired as a full time web developer for a small company in Sudbury. I worked with this small company for a couple of years, but the desire to work on multiple projects, and to develop something myself, left me thinking about starting my own firm.
Starting Xray Sierra
I always wanted to run my own company and help in the development and promotion of other people’s websites. I felt there that a lot of web development companies in Canada were not doing an adequete job of fully helping their clients get the most from their websites. In January of 2007 I founded Xray Sierra Inc. as a full web development and online marketing company. Xray Sierra started primarily as a web design firm but is quickly growing into a online media company. I currently work full time on Xray Sierra as a seo consultant, blogger, and podcaster.
